Mubasher: US retailers saw a slight month-on-month sales increase in January, official data showed on Monday.

Retail and food services sales totalled $504.4 billion, rising 0.2% on a monthly basis from a revised $503.4 billion in December 2018, the US Census Bureau reported.

The sales increase between November and January grew 2.6% from the year-ago period.

By 12:39 GMT, the USD dollar index (DXY), which measures the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, rose 0.03% to 97.33.
